Not Scrambling, Yet

So it's officially under the 30 day mark, and oddly enough, I've begun the packing process. This is slightly atypical for me. I distinctly remember cutting it down to the wire for Croatia, but I guess packing for two years adds a bit more pressure. Anyway, this is a friendly reminder to send me your addresses so I can write you. Also, a little research yesterday on the USPS website noted that it will cost about $0.84 to send a letter to Niger, so that is there for your info should you so desire it.

If I don't get a chance to talk to you/see you before, happy holidays!!

There are 70 days and counting until my departure for Niger! While it still seems like the departure date is far away, it is quickly approaching, and when you throw the holidays in there, these last two months will definitely fly by!

While in Niger I will not have regular access to electricity, let alone e-mail. Therefore, I figured that having a blog might be the best way to communicate "with the masses" ;) (However, this is not a subsitute for sending an old-fashioned letter or two my way. I hear that Peace Corps Volunteers really look forward to recieving them, and it sounds like I will have time to write you a time or two as well.)

Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know that this is here, and also, as I mentioned in my e-mail, I would just like to ask that if you have any words of wisdom, favorite memories of us, a picture, or small (trinkety) item that will remind me of you, that you send it my way. I am looking forward to gathering these items and beginning the "packing process".

Also, you can post responses here to anything I update, but feel free to use my "Niger e-mail address" as well!

All My Best,
Jamie
